HELP THE HOMELESS

Be The Hands & Feet

Help The Homeless Ministry is a congregation-led initiative that aims to be the hands and feet of Jesus by providing food and clothing to our neighbors in need.

Homeless people are struggling right in our backyards, and as followers of Jesus, we are called to take action. According to recent data, nearly 88% of the 3,718 homeless individuals counted in January 2024 were from Dallas County, with 12% from Collin County. Among them, nearly 64% were male, and 36% were female. These are our neighbors.

What would it look like if the people of God responded by seeing these individuals as image-bearers needing tangible help? What would it look like if you were a part of it?

Donating tangible items to our Help The Homeless Ministry is simple. You can bring them during office hours to Woodcreek Church at 3400 E Renner Rd or call the front office at (972) 238-8722 to arrange a drop off. We have an ongoing collection area in Timbers year-round. The needs change seasonally but are always present.

To find Timbers, enter through the Main entrance of Woodcreek Church, walk towards the Office area, and look for a sign on your right that says "TIMBERS." The donation box is located inside the sound booth of that room. All donated items are collected and distributed to those in need.

Resources

A Jesuit priest shares his experiences serving the homeless in Portland, Oregon, offering a deep spiritual reflection on encountering Christ in the poor.

While not solely about homelessness, this book provides valuable insights on how Christians can effectively help those in poverty, including the homeless, without causing harm.

This book chronicles the author's experience of living on the streets for five months to understand homelessness and demonstrate Christ's love to those in need.

"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."  - Hebrews 13:16 NIV
