Children Are a Gift

Children Are A Gift From The Lord

Pastor Sean reminded us of this simple truth in our first Advent sermon: children are a gift from the Lord. And wow, did that truth come to life this Sunday during family worship on December 1, 2024.

I was blown away by how many families showed up with their kids—from babies to college students. It was so cool to see everyone together, worshiping as one big church family. I even saw some of our special needs kiddos joining in, which just made my heart so full. Seeing kids worship Jesus alongside their parents, grandparents, and siblings, that’s what it’s all about.

We Worship Together

A huge thank you to all of you who made the effort to come to church as a family. Kids need to see us showing up—singing, praying, and praising God. That’s how they learn what worship looks like.

I loved spotting families with preschoolers sitting along the walls, finding their own little worship spaces. Seeing parents and kids take communion together? Such a sweet discipleship moment. You’re showing them that worship isn’t just for adults; it’s for all of us, no matter our age.

The Joy of My Job

As your Kidcreek Director, this brings me so much joy. We don’t often have Sundays where Kidcreek is closed—just the Sunday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and the Sunday after Christmas. We also have special Multi-Gen services and choir Sundays where our grade-school kids join us in worship.

These moments matter. They remind our kids that they belong in the church family, not just in their classrooms. If you’re a parent, I want to encourage you to bring your kids into the main service now and then, even on regular Sundays. And for those without young kids, why not sit with a family who has a handful of littles and lend a hand? Who knows what kind of friendship might grow from that?

You Are Invited & So Are They

Don’t forget, our Christmas Eve Services on December 24, 2024, at 3:00, 5:00, and 7:00 PM are designed for the whole family! We intentionally include kids in these services because we want them to see the celebration, feel the anticipation, light the candles, sing the songs, and be drawn into the story of Scripture. These moments plant seeds of faith, drawing every child closer to knowing, loving, and following Jesus.

This is the greatest story ever told, and we can’t wait to share it with your family. So, bring your kids on Christmas Eve—it’s a chance for them to experience the joy and wonder of Christ’s birth.

Thank You for Showing Up

Church, you are amazing. You love well, worship well, and create a space where kids can see what it means to follow Jesus. Thank you for showing them how to come before God with praise.

Remember: children are a gift from the Lord, and seeing them worship is a gift to all of us.
