This is a video work-along series that we will show at the Brewer’s house every Tuesday night at 7pm. There will also be time each week to get in small groups for prayer and accountability. Bonhoeffer and the Catholic Church

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about our relationship as Protestant Evangelicals to the Catholic church.  So much of our understanding and practice stems from the legacy of the great Catholic world.  Yet our history of reform and civil strife has left our congregations divorced in theory, praxis and even, by some standards, confession. How should we see our brothers, the Catholics?  Is there hope for unity in God’s worldwide Church?  I found insight and comfort from the words of the great 20th century German theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

I’m currently reading a GREAT biography of the late Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas.  Early in the text, Bonhoeffer is studying a semester in Rome and he carefully takes in the beauty, majesty, and piety of the Vatican.  Years later Dietrich writes an essay to share his thoughts on the subject of Protestant and Catholic relations.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I have:
