“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” – Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)

Romans 12:1-2 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture, one of those that I carry with me through the ups and downs of life.  In Paul’s appeal is a reminder to give ALL of me over to God for His purposes.  This is how we’ve been asked to express our devotion to God, our true worship.  I also find great encouragement in the fact that God is transforming my mind, so that I can better understand His good and perfect will and attempt to walk in it.

What I missed until studying the passage last week was one critical preposition Paul adds at the beginning of his exhortation: “by the mercies of God.” (more…)

Woodcreek is doing an all-church survey to help us better understand the values and perspectives of our membership.  We are all encouraged by the elders to take 30 minutes to fill out the survey here. I know I’m not big on surveys when it comes to spiritual matters, but I do know that the more people that do this, the more accurate the information will be.  After just taking it I will also say that it helped me stop and think about Woodcreek, my role in the church, and what I value the most.  So be heard – be a voice in our church body!  Take the survey here.

Communion Dinner next Friday at the Bruce and Bert’s Place! As a community of believers, we like to come together as often as possible and celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ over a meal. Join us in the remembrance and celebration!
