For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
As the first month of the year draws to a close, it is a great time to look back at the resolutions we made for the year. Maybe they were to grow closer to God, maybe to run more or workout more. Whatever your resolution was, how is it going? Have you made it the whole month without faltering? Statistics say most people will fail at their resolution in the first month of making it. This is sad, if we can’t make a month of keeping a promise to ourselves how can we ever overcome sin? This verse speaks hope to that very bleak situation. There is victory and it is overcome when the it is born of God. Meaning when it is something we don’t do under our own power but with the help of God. So take hope today even if your resolution has failed, because God desires to have many victories with us.
