Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
This is a verse that brings me immense comfort. Why? It brings me comfort because daily I’m confronted with my sin. By nature I’m a sinful person. I can not escape that. I look at the day that I lived, my attitude, my response to thing and what my heart has pursued and I am constantly disappointed in myself. My sin can stack up so quickly, I find myself in a down spiral or full of guilt. This passage breathes hope, I’m no longer this sinful man. Instead, Im a new creation, that old man is dead. I’m not confined to being this sinful person that I blame myself for being. Instead I’m something new and because of Christ, sin does not define me any longer.
- As you have read this today, think through your yesterday and thing things you might have done that you wish you hadn’t. Do you see a flaw in who you were yesterday?
- Is that flaw something you can turn over to God and let die?
- What is the new creation you want to be act like? Make a list.
