Spiritual Life Survey

There’s nothing more important to our church than your spiritual growth. Whether you’re just starting to explore the Christian faith, or you’re a long-time follower of Jesus, we want to do everything we can to help you on your spiritual journey.

That’s why we need your help. We’re asking you to take an online Spiritual Life Survey. This survey asks questions about your spiritual life and the role Woodcreek plays in it. The survey touches on a wide range of thought-provoking issues, and will take about 30 minutes to complete.

This survey is completely anonymous. An expert third-party research organization will aggregate your input with responses from thousands of other people, so your survey will not be viewed individually.

2011 End-of-year budget report

Today as we begin the new year here at Woodcreek we would like to bring to you a report on some of the amazing things God is doing in our church in regards to our finances.

The 19th century English missionary to Africa David Livingstone once said, David Livingstone said, “I will place no value on anything I may possess except in relation to the kingdom of Christ.” This understanding of possessions is distinctly Christian. And many at Woodcreek have embraced that value into their lives.

Today we are going to report on two significant areas of the finances of our church. The General Fund and what we call Masterplan.

General Fund

The general fund is our primary place for giving. From the general fund virtually all of the ministries are supported. Things like world and community outreach, youth and children ministries, the facility and utilities, the compensation for the staff, and many more areas are supported through the general fund.

The budget set for 2011 was $2,344,000. (In this budget was $2,115,574.00 in expenses and $228,426.00 in debt reduction.)

The actual expenses for 2011 were $1,911,000.00 and the giving was $2,473,000.00 This left us with a net overage for debt reduction of $562,000.00

Praise God for His provision through your obedient generosity.

As we move forward for 2012 we have set the budget simply at the amount that was given in 2011, a 0% increase over last years giving, and so the 2012 budget is $2,473,000.00. As we work on keeping expenses under this budget we will put all the money over the expenses towards debt reduction.

We are very excited about what God is going to continue to do through the general fund giving in 2012.

MasterPlan

Something else we are excited about today is our Masterplan program. Masterplan is what we call the effort to move our church 3.5 years ago here on Renner Rd. The project to build here total was 10.8 million dollars. After we built the building and moved in we still had 6.4 million dollars in debt. So from the beginning of the building program we planned on a second capital campaign and this is “Masterplan, paving the way” that began on Dec 5, 2010.

Through your pledges we have commitments of $2,047,728.00 in this second capital campaign. Since then we have collected $817,550.00 In addition to paying down the loan with this money we have made additional payments from the general fund of $1,514,000.00. Currently we are glad to report that the loan principle is $4,068,000.00

In 2011 alone we were able to reduce the loan over one million dollars. We are serious about reducing this debt as soon as possible as the less interest we pay the more money is available for ministry.

Special Giving

In addition to this great year of giving we also had some projects this past Christmas. For the coats for kids and families project we gave 1,195 coats to needs like the homeless and families of prisoners. We also made sure 134 families had a better Christmas through the Giving Tree project. And finally almost $23,000.00 was given for the Christmas bonus fund for our missionaries, and to the general mercy fund to help those with financial assistance during the year when there is need.

So we thank God today for the tremendous giving. And we are trusting God as we move into 2012 to continue to work not only through our financial stewardship but to change lives, all for His glory and for His name to be made known.

Baptism

Baptism is an outward sign of your inward faith. We will be having a baptism service on March 4, 2012. Sign up ends of February 17. All children are required to attend a class with Tammy Scott during the 8:00 a.m. service on February 19. Adults will meet with a pastor for an interview before the baptism date. Couch to 5K

Okay, here’s your excuse (for no more excuses) to get off the couch NOW, in January, and actually realize some of those health goals you’ve made. If you’d like to be part of a group that takes a look at nutrition, stretching, exercise and personal goals as part of a training program to get you ready to run (or walk) a 5K this spring, then contact Aaron Johnson at 972.880.8452 or aaron.johnson@woodcreekchurch.com.
