Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
High School presents a lot of big life choices. Some of the biggest are, Where should I go to college? What will I study and major in? Who should I date and when? What sport or club will I join? Ultimately these decisions and choices lead many high schoolers to ask, What is God’s will for my life? These verses help upack God’s will for us. The first statement is to rejoice always. So what does that mean? It means that you should be joyous daily. This doesn’t mean that you just walk around with a good attitude. It means that you are thankful, and joyous in a supernatural way. It is the kind of joy and appreciation that can only come from God. The second statement is to pray without ceasing. This also doesn’t mean that we are just constantly asking God for things. It means we need to be in constant conversation with God. What better reason to celebrate than the fact that we are able to communicate with God, the creator of the universe, in a conversation at all times! Finally, the writer Paul says to give thanks in all circumstances. This leads us back to celebrating everyday, and in all circumstances. By doing this we end up in God’s will. Celebrate today! Be glad no matter the circumstance, because it is God’s will.
- Will you celebrate today even if it is a bad day, simply because it is God’s will?
- Do you believe that God can give you joy in supernatural ways?
- Take a moment to pray and ask God to give you joy in a supernatural way.
